How to get tickets for the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth

Apply for tickets at the ticket office. You must expect to wait for 7–10 years before you get tickets. It is important that you apply every year. You can only apply by regular mail (address in text box to the right).
When you are registered, the ticket office will send you application forms automatically every year until you get tickets. Send in the application form every year. In the end it will be your turn.
The Bayreuth Festival House is known for the good view, even on the sides.

According to the Press Office (2008) there are 1974 seats available. In 2008 there was 447.240 ticket applications. People from around 80 countries applied for tickets.

Returns
For most performances there is a number of tickets sold on the day of
the performance. The ticket office opens at 13:30. Bring a chair and be
early, and you will probably get a ticket. Some hotels also sell tickets
to their guests.
Wagner societies
To join a Wagner society can be a good investment if you are desperate for tickets. These societies get a certain number of tickets for their members.
Black market tickets
Tickets bought or sold on the black market will be annulled. The buyer and seller will be banned, and the tickets will not be refunded.
Every year people are being stopped at the entrance when their name does not correspond with the name on the ticket.
