Sebastian Weigle is General Music Director of Frankfurt Opera. Since 2004 he has been General Music Director of Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. But conducting at the Bayreuth Festival is special, he tells Festspiele.de:

Bayreuth is the highlight of my career. When Wolfgang Wagner called me on the phone, I felt like I’d been granted the lead role in a Hollywood movie. It is such an honour to enter the tradition of great conductors here in Bayreuth.
