Lioba Braun started her musical education studying sacral music and received  her vocal training by Ch. Lehmann. Her international career took a quite spectacular turn in 1994, when she jumped in at short notice to sing Brangäne in Heiner Müller's production of Tristan und Isolde at the Bayreuth Festival with Daniel Barenboim conducting.

Subsequently she was invited by Europe’s main opera companies, such as the Scala in Milan, Teatro Real in Madrid, Liceu in Barcelona and the state operas of Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart and Vienna, to name but a few. Thanks to her extensive Wagner repertoire she’s been a regular guest with the Bayreuth Festival.

Having worked with numerous renowned conductors, she made several recordings, including "Lioba Braun sings Wagner" (SONY 2005) with Peter Schneider conducting, Mozarts Requiem under Christian Thielemann (Deutsche Grammophon 2006) as well as Brahms’ Altrhapsodie with Helmuth Rilling and Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with Jonathan Nott.

Other than that, she has performed as Kundry unter the baton of  Kent Nagano at Bayerischen Staatsoper München, Ortrud at Oper Leipzig, Judith/Buebeard with Dresdner Musikfestspiele and with Münchner Philharmoniker (Hartmut Haenchen), as Isolde in her first concert in this role in Lyon (J. Märkl), Beethovens 9. in Munich under C. Thielemann und Alma-Mahler-Lieder wth James Judd in Goldenen Musikvereinssaal in Vienna.
