Semyon Bychkov

Semyon Bychkov has established a substantial profile as an interpreter of Wagner within a broader international operatic career. His Wagner repertoire has included Lohengrin, Parsifal, Tannhäuser and Tristan und Isolde at major houses including the Wiener Staatsoper and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. At Vienna, he conducted Lohengrin and Parsifal, the latter in the 2017–18 seasons; in London, his Wagner engagements have included Tannhäuser.

Bychkov’s association with the Bayreuth Festival is especially significant. He made his Bayreuth debut in 2018 conducting Parsifal and returned for the same work in 2019. His Bayreuth profile has since expanded further: he conducted Tristan und Isolde there in 2024 and again in 2025. Across these engagements, Bychkov’s Wagner conducting has been associated with disciplined orchestral control, structural clarity and a symphonic understanding of large-scale operatic form.
