Stig Andersen aka Stig Fogh Andersen

stig andersen

The Danish tenor Stig Andersen ( the Siegmund and Siegfried on the recently released Copenhagen Ring on DVD), is one of those singers who could have sung at Bayreuth, but never got the chance.

The funny thing is that Stig Andersen (aka Stig Fogh Andersen) got his Bayreuth debut already in 1977. Between 1977 and 1979 he sang in the Festspielchor (in Chéreau’s Götterdämmerung and Götz Friedrich’s Tannhäuser and Lohengrin).
(See other singers who started in the Bayreuther Festspielchor here)

coverStig Andersen made his debut in a major Wagner role in 1993, in the Århus Ring. In 1996 he sang both Siegfrieds in Århus. He has played the major Wagner roles in Copenhagen, Zurich, Berlin, Tokyo, Munich, Houston, Århus, Chicago, Torino, Dresden, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Helsinki, Amsterdam, London, New York, Geneva, Madrid, Dortmund etc.
