Robert Dean Smith

Robert Dean Smith was born in Kansas. After studies in Pittsburg and at the New York Juilliard School, he started his career – as a baritone - at the Städtische Bühnen Bielefeld.
His Bayreuth debut came in 1997, when he sang Walther von Stolzing in Wolfgang Wagner's production. His other roles in Bayreuth include Lohengrin, Siegmund and Tristan in Christoph Marthalers production from 2005.
Robert Dean Smith sings at opera houses like Metropolitan, Covent Garden, Teatro Real Madrid, La Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Los Angeles Opera and has been performing at the Bayreuth Festival since 1997.
