Kwangchul Youn
Kwangchul Youn was born in South Korea. Between 1994
and 2004 Youn was a member of
the ensemble of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. His Bayreuth debut
was in 1999 as Nactwächter in Wolfgang Wagners production (also released
on DVD).
Kwangchul Youn's Wagner roles include:
- Veit Pogner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg)
- Ein Nachtwächter (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). Kwangchul Youn's debut at Bayreuther Festspiele1996 in a production by Wolfgang Wagner.
- Titurel (Parsifal)
- Landgraf Hermann (Tannhäuser)
- König Marke (Tristan und Isolde)
- Gurnemanz (Parsifal). Bayreuth debut in this role in Stefan Herheim's Parsifal production (premiere 25 July 2008)
- Hunding (Die Walküre)
- Fasolt (Das Rheingold)
