Wagner's Ring Motifs - An Audio Guide
Some listeners may find that the title of this audio guide is a little misleading. Especially those acquainted with Deryck Cooke's superb An Introduction to Der Ring des Nibelungen. Those expecting another introduction like Cooke's will be disappointed.
Although a lot of the leitmotifs are mentioned in this audio guide, Wagner's Ring Motifs is far from a competitor to Deryck Cooke's guide. A walk-through would be a more adequate description of what this CD set is. As a help for preparing the newcomer to Wagner's Ring, this set is very good.
The leitmotifs are produced in a 12 page booklet.
The authors are Sven Friedrich and Gerhard K. Englert. The narrator is John Tomlinson.
